Insect Screens: Keep the Pests Out

Insect Screens: Keep the Pests Out

We take lots of care to clean up our houses and continue the highest order of hygiene in every room. The dust is swept out and floors are wiped clean to upkeep the welcoming and comfortable interiors. But despite our best efforts, there are irksome flies, mosquitoes and other little insects that easily manage to fly in whenever the door is ajar or windows are kept open to let in fresh air. These pests are not just irritating but also the possible carriers of deadly diseases. The dilemma of most house owners is that for ventilation purposes, we do need to let the fresh air in by doors and windows and so they have to be opened for some time at the minimum.

Fly screens or insect screens are now the simple answer to such problems. Made with metal wire, fiber glass or other synthetic fiber mesh, these screens are stretched over a window with a purpose to keep insects, leaves, debris and birds from entering an enclosed area. Hence, while you can nevertheless enjoy the breeze for ventilation in your rooms, the entry of bugs and pests is completely barred.

Similarly a screen door is used to cover the exterior door or already a sliding glass door. The fine wire mesh of such screen doors not only keeps the flies and insects out but also prevents your little kids and pets from exiting interior spaces off guard. Designed in different forms and sizes, screen doors have wide ranges to be used for French doors, patio doors and conservatory door styles.

A more progressive version for fly screens and screen doors is a roller fly screen. This system comprises of a cassette that holds all the mesh. The specially developed spring loaded mechanism easily rolls the screen up and down with the touch of hand. It also has a screen locking facility and an in-built brush to clean the screen. Roller fly screen is customized as per the size of your doors and windows and can be installed directly on them.

Retractable insect screens are a good idea for smaller doorways and French doors with restricted area where it may not be possible to have a swinging screen door. The screen is operated by a series of chords that tightens the pleated mesh, preventing it from blowing out in strong windy conditions.

So, when it comes to proper protection of your house from all the bothersome insects, fly screens do provide the optimum solution.
